Thornton Melon's Back to School and Blogging

My first-ever blog: This is where one says that they never thought they'd write a blog, that they don't expect anyone to read it, and that they don't care if anyone does. For the sake of starting a little differently, I'm going to say that from the first moment I sat down at a computer I realized that the modem hum was my ticket to international recognition, that I could finally take the pure garbage that was my self-consumed thoughts and turn it into pure gold. That I could make what matters to me matter to someone else and that I could finally flex my ego without being a real-life jackass.

Of course, that's not true. I just have more time on my hands having quit my job at an alt-weekly and started work on my master's in environmental journalism (along with an accompanying editorship of the program's EJ Magazine). The truth is that I have for years resisted committing myself to regular online writing, that I doubt anyone gives a shit about what I think and that I don't care if they do.

I am therefore considering this blog as a clean, dry place to store the little scraps of notes I scribble everyday, and a proper outlet for any propaganda I wish to propagate.
